Calculate generator repair times in Dead by Daylight

How It Works

Generators & Charges

A standard generator requires 90 charges to complete. A survivor repairs at a base speed of 1 charge per second (c/s). This means a solo survivor with no perks takes 90 seconds.

Toolboxes & Speed

Toolboxes increase your repair speed, but only while they have charges. The charges are consumed at the same rate as your final repair speed.

Example: A Mechanic's Toolbox gives a +75% speed boost. Your repair speed becomes 1.75 c/s. The toolbox's 16 charges are also consumed at 1.75 c/s, so the effect lasts for about 9.14 seconds (16 รท 1.75).

Add-ons & Co-op

  • Charge Add-ons (e.g., Wire Spool) add more charges, making your toolbox speed boost last longer.
  • Speed Add-ons (e.g., Socket Swivels) stack with the toolbox's bonus for an even faster repair speed.
  • Co-op Penalty: Each additional survivor on a gen reduces everyone's efficiency by 15%.

Example: Imagine Survivor A has the 1.75 c/s speed from the toolbox above. Survivor B (no toolbox, 1 c/s) joins them. The 15% penalty is applied to both:
    - Survivor A's speed becomes 1.75 * 0.85 = 1.49 c/s.
    - Survivor B's speed becomes 1.00 * 0.85 = 0.85 c/s.
    Their combined speed is 2.34 c/s, not 2.75 c/s.
